The ATOM Photo Comp provides Australian and New Zealand student and adult photographers with the opportunity to submit a series of three (3) photographs responding to a theme, and win fantastic prizes in the process. The competition is an initiative of Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM).
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Turbulence’.
Turbulence: strong, uneven currents; state of confusion. We have all experienced a period of disorder, but turbulence can also suggest growth. It is in the ocean waves and airstreams. It is the pulse of a movement, which means going places, shifting things or causing change …
For the past six years, amateur and professional photographers have submitted arresting, epic and intimate images. The finalists and prize winners are chosen each year by a panel of professional photographers, artists, media teachers and industry professionals.
We encourage photographers of all ages to get involved in this competition and explore different concepts and ideas with their photography. Be creative, and feel free to think outside the box when addressing the theme. Your photographs can be colour or black-and-white, realistic or abstract, they may include people or animals (or both, or neither!).
How to enter:
- Take 3 original photographs that address the theme of ‘Turbulence’.
- Submit your 3 photos through our online entry system at atomphotocomp.org.
- Write a short statement (up to 300 words) and submit it with your entry.
