2013 IPAF ATOM Awards        www.atomawards.org

Entries are now open for the 2013 IPAF ATOM Awards!

Australia’s leading film and media awards for the education and industry sectors are now calling for entries for an exciting 2013 program of events. This year’s awards span twenty-nine diverse categories, from feature-length documentaries and factual television programs to music videos, animation, games and multimedia. Over two nights in November we will celebrate the best screen content Australia and New Zealand have to offer.

There are eight categories specifically for primary and secondary students:

  • Best Primary School Film Production
  • Best Primary School Animation (claymation, drawing, cell, 2D & 3D)
  • Best Middle School (7-10) Film Production
  • Best Middle School (7-10) Animation (claymation, drawing, cell, 2D & 3D)
  • Best Senior Secondary Animation (claymation, drawing, cell, 2D & 3D)
  • Best Senior Secondary Documentary
  • Best Senior Secondary Fiction
  • Best Senior Secondary Music Video

There are also seventeen open categories. Students who feel their productions will be competitive at the highest level are welcome to enter these too.

ATOM encourages students and teachers to submit their productions now via our online entry system. Entries are open until 5pm on Friday 28 June.

We will host all of the student finalist films on the ATOM Awards website, and run audience choice competitions across selected categories as well as a screening program of finalist films across regional Australia throughout next year.

The Student Awards Evening – to be hosted in Melbourne this November – is a unique opportunity for students to see the winning films on the cinema screen. Last year, the event was hosted by comedian Kate McLennan and was enjoyed by hundreds of students from across the country.

Coinciding with the call for entries, the new 2013 IPAF ATOM Awards website is now live at www.atomawards.org. The site features all the 2012 finalists (many of which are available to stream online), video highlights from last year’s awards presentations, plus everything you need in order to enter this year’s awards.

Open to entertainment industry personnel and students at all levels, from our youngest primary school talents to the most established of screen media professionals, the ATOM Awards have been a crucial link between educators and the media industry for over thirty years. They are the second–longest running screen industry awards in Australia, after the AFI/AACTA Awards.

We are thrilled to have the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation on board as naming sponsor for this year’s awards. IPAF’s work in promoting the value of creative endeavour is a great match for our annual celebration of media excellence at all levels.
